Tadami Station has sometimes appeared on this website before, but I’ll introduce it again.
Upon leaving the station, you'll notice a surprisingly prosperous town right around the station.
However, I would like you to confirm your location using tools like Google Maps.
You will realize that you are now in a mountainous region deep in the heart of Japan.
Looking around, you can see Mt Gamo, also known as the Matterhorn of Aizu, rising in the distance.
The town is surrounded by mountains filled with snowy valleys.
A tourist information center was established near the station after it was decided that the Tadami Line was to be re-opened.
The facility sells the town's products and Tadami Line goods.
Some products are made by local confectioners, but you won't find them in convenience stores.
If you like Japanese sweets, you will love them.
You can also rent electric bicycles to explore the town.
There is an inn in front of the station, but there are many others in the town.
Since the Tadami Line reopened, they appear to be used by many tourists.
Most of them will provide you with Japanese-style, relaxing rooms and hospitality.
Many other restaurants can also be found, and of course ramen and sushi restaurants are also present.
There is sure to be a restaurant serving food that will satisfy you.
By the way, the first attraction of Tadami is its vast beech forests.
This primeval forest has existed since prehistoric times, a rarity in the world, and its extent is said to exceed that of the Shirakami Mountains, which are designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The ‘Megumi no Mori (Forest of Blessings)’ is a place where a stream flows over a monolith said to be as long as 4 km.
You can walk along the stream, which is the best place to experience Tadami's nature.
Tagokura Dam is one of the largest dams in Japan, and Lake Tagokura, created by the dam, is extensive.
The dam has produced electricity for Japan's post-war reconstruction.
Today, many people visit the site as a tourist attraction.
This is the Tadami town Beech Center.

The center introduces Tadami’s great nature and the creatures that live there.
You can easily learn about the nature of Tadami.
You would be surprised to find such a town deep in these mountains.
Even in the town you can see rare insects and birds that you would not normally see in the countryside.
It is like a different world.
Furthermore this is an area with tremendous snowfall in winter.
The snow buries everything in the area.
However it will not bury the hearts of the people who live here.
Every winter, a snow festival is held near the station, where the townspeople can be seen gathered together.
There, surrounded by thick snow, the people are so vivacious that they don't seem to mind the snow at all.
In addition, the children with a twinkle in their eyes are truly impressive!
They must be proud to live in Tadami town, a unique place in Japan!
In Tadami Town, an event is held every year that allows visitors to get in touch with its great nature.
I intend to take part in it in the future.
When I do, I will introduce it on this website, so please look forward to it.
